Hun & Austin – San Francisco, CA

Words can’t describe how much we enjoyed capturing Hun & Austin’s day. They truly are two of the most caring and compassionate people. We loved getting to capture the traditional Chinese elements and their classic wedding.

“Our bride and groom came to us with one important goal in mind for their wedding: to create an unforgettable weekend with family and friends that was a showcase of their heritage and personalities. With a lively ranch outing following the rehearsal on Friday, their guests were shown just how playful and vivacious the bride and groom are while practicing riflery, shooting arrows, riding horses, and ziplining.

Their wedding day started early Saturday morning with traditional Chinese elements, including Bridal Games and a formal Tea Ceremony. They wanted their wedding ceremony and reception to feel like an elegant 1920s-era garden party with shades of burgundy, forest green, ivory, and blush pink throughout. With their beautiful estate in Atherton and soaring redwood trees as a natural background to the ceremony, simple wooden benches adorned with sprigs of greenery lined the grass. A piano was brought outside for a friend to play one of their favorite songs during the ceremony, and the bride and groom selected Staraflur by Sigur Ros for a string quartet to play as their processional. After the ceremony, guests surrounded the pool to enjoy specialty cocktails and upbeat jazz tunes by The Mattson 2 while lounging on vintage lounge furniture. On their way to dinner, guests pulled their escort cards from ribbons dangling amidst greenery and votives from a gazebo on the lawn. The custom-built reception tent was draped in hundreds of yards of raw muslin with edison bulbs hanging above each table, and long taper candles tucked into brass holders lined the head table. Nestled into the napkin at each place setting was a Mast Brother’s chocolate bar with custom watercolor art featuring the bride and groom’s names and a leaf motif that was used throughout the wedding, from invitations to table numbers. The night ended with delicious cakes from Miette, handmade caramels by the bride’s friend and bridesmaid, and hours of dancing to tunes by The Leftover Cuties.

The following day, their guests spent a lazy day relaxing by the pool, feasting on roasted pig, sweet and savory crepes, and specialty cocktails. The details of the weekend were planned and designed from start to finish for their guests to feel the bride and groom’s love and appreciation.”
